‘Outstanding success was achieved. Quite simply it works.’

Geoff Hunt, CEO, Hawkins.

The Hawkins story is centred on its passionate people, some reaching fifty years of service, and underpinned by a quintessential Kiwi can-do attitude.

From humble Waikato origins, Hawkins projects now span the length of New Zealand. In 2017 Hawkins became part of the Downer family, allowing Hawkins to continue to grow and help New Zealand communities thrive.

The challenge.

The CEO of Hawkins realised the organization needed to get behind a common core purpose in order to thrive as well as meet environmental and social goals.

The approach.

The approach mixed proven tools and methodologies with independent consultants in order to unearth key insights. Considering future trends and asking the right people the right questions, were vital to understanding where Hawkins is today and how it could position itself as a modern business in the future.

The effect.

At the core of the recommendation was a powerful single organizing idea- ‘Building Better Communities’. ‘It sums up in a single stroke what Hawkins is all about” said one employee on its launch. The single organizing idea has since helped Hawkins win valuable projects, created employee led initiatives, propelled the company forward and united its partners and clients.
